WildTAC North America
A founding chapter of the WildTAC network — building local capacity in wildlife tracking and field certification across North American conservation landscapes.
A North American field capacity programme
WildTAC North America is building a field-based wildlife tracking and certification programme tailored to North American conservation contexts — from large mammal corridor monitoring in the Mountain West and Great Plains to rewilding zone assessment and community-based tracking in Indigenous-led conservation areas.
The chapter applies the same CyberTracker Conservation Track & Sign certification standard used across the WildTAC network, delivered through locally led field programmes anchored in academic and conservation partnerships across the continent.
A formal pilot site and programme timeline will be announced as the founding team and institutional partnerships are established. The chapter is currently in its founding period, with team formation and scoping work underway.
Priority focus areas
WildTAC North America's initial programme will focus on contexts where locally led field tracking capacity is most needed and where institutional partnerships can anchor long-term delivery.
Wildlife corridor and large mammal tracking in the Rocky Mountain and Great Plains regions, connecting field data to landscape-scale conservation planning.
Supporting community-based and Indigenous-led tracking and conservation monitoring, integrating traditional ecological knowledge with certified field methods.
Track & Sign monitoring to support rewilding initiatives and reintroduced species programmes — generating rigorous field data on recovery outcomes.
Chapter status
WildTAC North America is in its founding period. The chapter is being established in parallel with WildTAC Africa, as part of WildTAC International's two-chapter founding cohort.
